I love America

So my little case of homesickness has produced this patriotic number in just one month's time. The applique wasn't nearly as bad as I expected; I could get about 3 stars done in one TV show. Of course, I still have to quilt it.

A little happy accident caused the stripes to go horizontal, just like the flag. I hadn't designed this on purpose and only noticed it once it was all sown together. This only happened because I drafted my pattern horizontally instead of vertically (not realizing the consequences). This meant that the blocks would all be turned 90 degrees to the right, thus causing the stripes to go horizontal. Yea!

Tanya, I'm amazed, impressed, flabbergasted at your skill! I wasn't checking this blog as I thought it was dormant (might want to activate the RSS feed on this one too). I just checked it on a whim and was mind-boggled by the beauty of your creations. I also love the techy-nerdy work done on powerpoint and excel, I would really get into that too. But no chance I could ever create such masterpieces. You're extremely gifted!

Hi Astrid, Thanks for the comment. You are too kind. It's not that hard, just ridiculously time-consuming. It's nice to have people see the result after spending countless hours locked away in my craft room.

Tanya, this is amazing! I sent the photo's to my mom who not only loves to quilt, but is a fan of patriotic things as well. (In fact, our entire family room in Michigan is done in americana colors). She was as impressed as I was. This is beautiful.
